Amgen Benefits & Pay

Am I eligible for medical coverage during LOA?

  • Continued medical coverage will depend on the type of leave requested and approval status of the leave.
  • You must continue to pay your portion of the medical premiums while you are on leave. If you are not receiving salary benefits directly from Amgen, you will be billed for insurance premiums by the Amgen Benefits Center and must pay your premiums on time in order to continue coverage.
  • Review the Amgen Status of Benefits Summary on the MyHR portal under the Leave of Absence tab and the applicable benefit plan documents located here.

Will I be paid if I take LOA?

  • It will depend on the type of leave requested and the approval status of the leave. Leave types can be found on the MyHR portal under the Leave of Absence tab.
  • Disability benefits associated with a medical leave may come from a combination of sources, such as state disability programs, workers compensation programs, and Amgen short or long-term disability.

Will my bonus/IC be impacted?

Bonuses, if any are earned, will be paid when Amgen’s annual bonuses are paid out. For IC, please review Amgen’s Incentive Compensation Program Summary.

Does Amgen offer adoption benefits?

  • Once a child has been placed, staff members are eligible for 10-weeks of Parental Leave (which may be taken in 2-week increments) and adoption reimbursement.
  • Eligible staff members who add to their families through adoption may request reimbursement of up to $4,000 for eligible adoption-related expenses.
  • For information about Amgen’s adoption benefit and to apply for reimbursement, go to Family Resources.

Will I continue to accrue vacation during LOA?

No, except when required by law.

Can I request a payout of my accrued time (Vacation, Personal/Family Illness, etc.)?

  • If you are not receiving 100% of your pay, you may request a payout of your accrued vacation time.
  • The payout must be requested before LOA ends by informing HR Connect.
  • Unused Personal/Family Illness time is not paid out.

Will company holidays during my leave extend the leave time?

No, there will be no additional days added to your leave time if a holiday falls during your leave. Please review Amgen’s Absence from Work policy.*

Is intermittent FMLA a paid leave?

No. FMLA leave is unpaid, although staff members may elect to substitute accrued and available Personal/Family Illness time (except when leave is due to the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child or a qualifying exigency) as well as accrued and available vacation time for FMLA leave.
